PE kits
On days when your child has PE, please ensure they have trainers and PE kit to wear for that lesson. This can either be worn for the day, or your child can change in school. PE kit must be in accordance to the list above.
Coats and Jackets
The only coats to be worn into school are Downland coats; having listened to the pupil voice we have available plain black coats which can be worn in place of the blue Downland coat. We can also provide fleece jackets for pupils should they require an extra layer of warmth. These can be purchased using the order form below.
Other information
All items of clothing must be clearly labelled with your child’s name in order to facilitate easy return of lost items.
Pupils must not wear items of non-uniform to school unless it is a specified non-uniform day. Clothing on these days must be appropriate (no belly tops, tight shorts or skirts, offensive slogans on clothing).
School holds a large supply of second hand uniform which will be given to any pupil that arrives in incorrect uniform; if your child needs more uniform please use the order form. More details at the bottom of this page.
If you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact the school office to discuss how we can assist you with the cost of uniform.
Personal Appearance
Make-up (if worn) must be discreet. No false eyelashes or heavy eye make-up. No nail varnish or false nails.
Wristwatches (not smart watches) and a plain pair of studs, one in each ear may be worn. No dangly or hooped earrings as these present potential risk of injury.
No body jewellery including nose, facial, tongue, bars, or stretchers are to be worn. If pupils are intending to have a piercing over the summer holiday period, it should be carried out with sufficient time for the wound to heal so that plasters or additional jewellery do not need to be worn on return to school.
All jewellery must be removed for every PE lesson, including swimming.
Mobile Phones and Electronics
Downland School accepts that parents/carers may wish for their child to bring mobile phones or electronics on the journey to and from school. The school has the following policy on mobile phones and electronics:
- Pupils bring mobile phones and electronics to school at their own risk. The school takes no responsibility for loss or damage.
- On entering the school site, devices are to be switched off and handed to their tutor or Support.
- All devices are locked in a secure cupboard for the duration of the day and returned to the pupils before leaving to go home.
- Parents/carers wishing to make emergency contact with their child during the school day should contact the main office.
Please use the form below to complete your order and send in to the school office with your child, or email your child's tutor.
