Educational visits and trips have clear benefits for pupils’ engagement and learning progression and we organise a number of successful visits and outdoor learning activities each year.
Downland School fully recognises that learning outside the classroom helps to bring the curriculum to life – it provides deeper subject learning and increases self-confidence. It also helps pupils develop their risk awareness and prepares them for their future working lives.
Before an out of school activity takes place all the possible risks are assessed and a risk assessment is completed and approved by Wiltshire Council and via Evolve.
Prior to any off-site educational visit, parent / carer permission must be obtained and students informed of the criteria and expectations required for them to participate.
Please see our Off Site Visits policy for pupils participating in school activities off site.
